Institute for Research and Development of Leadership in an Information Environment
The Institute for Research and Development of Leadership in an Information Environment is a core unit within ULSIT, in accordance with Article 25, Paragraph 2, and Article 26, Item b, Paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Higher Education Act (HEA). It was established by Decree No. 103 of the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Bulgaria, dated 8th May, 2014, published in the State Gazette, Issue 41, dated 16th May, 2014, and by a decision of the ULSIT Academic Council on 21st June, 2014.
The Institute’s primary focus is on conducting long-term research activities in the history, theory, and practice of leadership. Its main tasks include research, educational-methodological, and consultancy activities.
Research Activities
1. Fundamental and applied research in the field of leadership.
2. Specialized studies on the theory, history, and practice of leadership.
3. Independent and collaborative research projects aimed at developing strategies, concepts, forecasts, and programs in the field of leadership.
The Institute plans to create and disseminate new knowledge and scientific-applied products; ensure the continuous development of research activities; and provide opinions and expert evaluations for leadership-related projects and programs.
Consultancy and Expert Activities
The consultancy work aims to analyze the theory and practice of leadership in the contemporary information environment and to develop methodologies for addressing specific management challenges.
Primary Goals of the Institute
1. Maximizing the connection between leadership theory and the practice of Bulgarian public life.
2. Promoting direct cooperation between state and public authorities and ULSIT, maintaining the national character of leadership, and adapting foreign practices to Bulgarian conditions.
3. Enhancing management processes by accelerating the acquisition of knowledge and skills related to leadership practices.
4. Democratizing and modernizing management practices by strengthening network-based horizontal relationships alongside hierarchical vertical structures and management vectors.
5. Developing inter-institutional relations and implementing public-private partnerships in the field of leadership.
6. Building mutual trust and cooperation among core units and faculty to reinforce UniBIT’s public mission.
7. Supporting ULSIT’s involvement in the management of state, public, and corporate structures through its personnel, research output, and academic programs.
