Mission and Goals

The public mission of ULSIT is to prepare highly qualified, socially and personally motivated and adaptable to the work environment and the challenges of the information society specialists with real and applicable theoretical knowledge and practical skills for work in various areas of socio-economic life, capable of communicating, working in a team and taking on the responsibility of citizens, called to contribute to raising the cultural level of the nation and our integration into European and world values.

The university sets as its main strategic goal the sustainable development and proving its new identity as a leading institution in the field of education in information technologies, information security, national security, preservation and presentation of cultural and historical heritage, library and information technologies, information brokerage and print communications, as well as its full participation in the formation and implementation of state educational policies. The following priorities and tasks arise from the public mission and strategic goal:

  • to achieve a new quality in education in accordance with the principles of the Bologna Declaration of the Ministers of Education of the EU Member States from 1999 and with the criteria formulated in the National Strategy for the Development of the Information Society in the Republic of Bulgaria;
  • to quickly and fully master modern information and communication technologies and their use in practice, by applying the European educational standards and the European Qualifications Framework;
  • to update the curricula and programs for their full harmonization with the criteria of the leading Bulgarian and foreign higher education institutions in this field;
  • to open new, promising specialties in order to meet the public needs and interests of the Bulgarian and European labor market;
  • to develop and strengthen the system of continuing education as a factor for improving the professional qualification of the students
